Courtyard of a Ming Dynasty fortified complex, Rungcheng village, Shanxi Province. The dwelling was originally the residence of either the concubine or a relative of the ruling landlord of the time. It is very likely one of the oldest and best preserved examples of this form of architecture that survives in China.
