Omar, a disk jockey at JJ's, Guangzhou, China

JJ's, one of Guangzhou many nightclubs, attracts the best and brightest of China's nouveau riche; drinks and entrance fees are prohibitively expensive for all but the wealthiest Chinese. It's a place to be seen and to let off steam, and where the DJs are brought in from the Philippines to entertain the crowd with the latest hits from the West. Packed with revelers throughout the week, these young entrepreneurs, business men/women, and sons and daughters of party officials, have made this Chinese-American joint venture one of the most successful clubs in China. Other JJ's can be found in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
