Biograhical noteBorn and raised in Hong Kong, Catherine Karnow has been traveling and photographing for twenty years. A graduate of Brown University, Karnow pursued filmmaking for a brief period. Her film, Brooklyn Bridge, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 1984. Now a full-time photojournalist, Karnow's work appears in Smithsonian, GEO, Islands, the New York Times Sophisticated Traveler, the Day in the Life book series, and numerous other publications. Her books include various Insight Guides and Adventures on the Scotch Whisky Trail. In the spring of 1994 Karnow was among seventy of the world's leading photojournalists chosen to work on the book Passage to Vietnam. Recently, she photographed for Seven Days in the Philippines, published by Didier Millet Editions, Singapore. Her Smithsonian cover story on "New Vietnam" was published in January 96. Her story on Bombay appeared in Islands magazine in March/April 97. |
