Yanan's new year.

Yanan was the Chinese soviet base where Mao's communist forces regrouped after the long March. The speech on Art and literature and Art was made from Yanan in 1942. This poster was given to me by an elderly peasant in a small village 4 hours outside of Luoyang, Henan province. Faintly visible in the background cave dwellings are visible. These dwellings are carved out of the Loess cliff so typical of Northwestern China. This poster was given to the elderly men who gave it to me and was signed Li Xue Qing (student), 1975-12-26. This poster had been used to decorate a cave dwelling's granary.
